TAMU Bus System

Need to get to that 8 am class at Texas A&M and don’t have a car? Were you out late with friends drinking and need a free ride home? Need to get around town but don’t have any gas money? Here are some simpler options than begging your parents for that brand new Dodge pickup truck with a full tank of gas that you’ve been wanting:

1. Texas A&M Bus System:

This is the best way for Aggies, as well as Blinn College students, to get around town the easiest. There are quite a few buses that travel all around town, from Blinn to South College Station. There are also buses that travel throughout the A&M campus. The buses do fill up quickly, so make sure you get to the bus stop early enough to guarantee a seat or standing room. If you are a Blinn student, there is a bus that runs from Blinn to A&M. No need to buy 2 parking passes when you can hop on a free bus. There is an up-to-date schedule online so you can always track where your bus is.

2. CARPOOL

CARPOOL is a big part of what makes A&M so great. Why? Because they exemplify the ideal of Aggies helping other Aggies. CARPOOL gives rides to people (not just Aggies) who need them who are drunk, but to those who need a ride home. Ladies, if you’re on a date and it’s not going well and you don’t want your date to take you home, call CARPOOL. They will come pick you up and when they drop you off at your home they make sure you get inside safely. They operate from Thursday to Saturday and can always help anyone out. They are a great organization on campus, and they do well for not just Aggies, but for the community. Their number is: (979)693-9905.

3. Cabs

There are quite few taxi services in town. To find different cabs offered, go to this website.

4. College Station Buses

College Station also has buses that not only run around town, but that can take you to different cities like Austin, Houston, etc. To find bus schedules and maps of where bus stops are, go to this website.

5. Bicycles

Bikes are very popular at Texas A&M. Many students ride their bike to school and ride them to their classes. They make fast work of the big campus, and there are many bike racks in front of the buildings. There are also cool bike repair stations where you can air up tires, tighten nuts and bolts, and things of that nature. You can register your bike with transportation services so there’s a record of your bike in case it gets lost. There are also bikes that you can rent through transportation services.

6. Parking Passes

If you have a car and need a place to park it while you go to class and you really don’t want to take the bus, then you need to purchase a parking pass. Passes can range in price depending on if you want to park in a lot or in a garage. Passes are also offered for overnight parking, weekend parking, motorcycle parking, etc. While passes can be pricey, they are certainly worth the money for those who would rather bring their own car to school.
