“Music is my life”—at least that’s what we’ve all heard a close friend or family member say to us at some point.  There is a degree of truth to it, though, since there’s just something very special about the way music impacts the body and soul. Whether you’re cooking breakfast to The Beatles, studying to the jazzy sounds of Louis Armstrong, or mourning your recent break-up to Ariana Grande, music gets us through the good and bad times in life. Audiences around the world have come to see music as a powerful language that can turn your mood completely around.  So, it’s really no surprise that you always have your earbuds in as you walk to and from your classes on campus.

When it comes to picking out the right playlist, however, it can get a little tricky. Spotify alone has more than one million playlists to choose from—and of these playlists, nearly one-thousand of them are based on genres and moods. While you are a sucker for a good selection, the number of playlists offered by the popular music streaming platform can be overwhelming, to say the least.  And, who wants to spend hours upon hours searching for the perfect playlist?

As a busy college student, we know you have enough on your mind without dedicating extra time to browse Spotify’s vast selection—but don’t worry! uCribs has handpicked 8 of our favorite Spotify playlists, and we believe that they are tailor-made to suit every moment in life. Let the jam session begin!

For an Early Morning Boost: Good Vibes

Rise and shine! It’s a new day, which that means that you must begin it on the right foot. No matter if you’re walking to campus or catching a ride with friends, it’s likely that you’ll need a little something that puts a smile on your face—especially if your en route to one of your favorite 8 AM lectures. (That last part was a bit of sarcasm for you.) Spotify’s Good Vibes playlist will do its job, though, in getting you pumped up for the day ahead. It’s filled with the upbeat artists that you know and love, and they will gladly set the tone for the rest of your day. From the moment you press play, you’ll feel like you’re “walking on sunshine!” So, if this Spotify playlist doesn’t do it for you, we’re not sure what will.

For a Day Spent Cleaning: Get Chores Done

Have you ever noticed how much better cleaning is with music? If anything, it takes your mind off the tasks at hand—to a certain degree, anyway. If we’re being honest, there’s no other way to immerse yourself in a typically mundane task, like sweeping or scrubbing. That’s why Spotify’s Get Chores Done playlist is a perfect way to take the bore out of chores. Now that you’re full-fledged adulting, you’ll need to learn how to make these types of tasks more bearable! Good thing this playlist has you covered with all genres of music, from well-loved classics to contemporary pop ballads. Plus, with Spring Cleaning right around the corner, you’ll need all the reinforcements you can possibly get.

For the Long Commute: Songs to Sing in the Car

Whether you have a daily commute to campus or plan to take a road trip with friends, a long commute or drive can be extremely boring and uneventful—especially if you’re stuck with miles of dull, humdrum scenery without a playlist to set the right tone for the drive. Times, such as these, call for Spotify’s Songs to Sing in the Car playlist. This playlist is packed with popular hits, like Beyonce’s “Formation,”—for those of you that didn’t know, Lemonade is FINALLY on Spotify— Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow,” and Ed Sheeran’s “I Don’t Care.” Your friends will have a blast with some carpool karaoke, and before you know it, you’ll have reached your destination in no time!

For the Study Session: Intense Studying

Imagine that it’s Wednesday night and you have an exam coming up—it’s a typical scenario, right? Truth be told, your focus isn’t quite on point. Sometimes, it’s almost impossible to sit down for a dedicated study session when you know there are a million other things on your to-do list, but the time has come to crack-down, and you can no longer afford to stall. The last thing that you want is a poor exam grade as a result of an unsuccessful study session. Hey, grades matter! So, what do you do? Composed of piano-inspired melodies, Spotify’s Intense Studying playlist will supercharge your brainpower, improve your productivity, and reduce your stress levels. With this playlist, you’ll feel prepared to conquer any exam—and paper, project, or presentation.

For an Ultimate Confidence Booster: On Fleek

Throughout college, it’s easy to feel insecure and uncertain. You’re surrounded by intimidating people, obligations, and academic courses. All too often, there’s the little voice inside of your head that emerges—you know, the inner dialogue where you constantly question or criticize yourself, even when things are going well academically and socially. In these times, you must remind yourself that you are a force to be reckoned with—flaws and all—by listening to the On Fleek playlist. Remember: you’re in college, grinding hard to achieve your goals. It’s okay not to get it right 100-percent of the time…just ask any adult that you know. With inspirational and empowering tunes, like Lizzo’s Tempo and Kesha’s My Own Dance¸ all of your self-doubt will disappear once these songs remind you of your inner strength.

For Powering Through a Workout: Beast Mode

So, you’ve finally decided to start a new fitness regime. You’ve got everything in order thus far—vitamins, protein powder, and Epsom salt. Now, all that you’re missing is some jams to get the adrenaline pumping. Listening to music while exercising is the perfect way to kill boredom, put yourself in a better mood, increase your stamina, and improve the overall quality of your workout. If you haven’t been able to find the right playlist, though, your efforts could feel all for nothing. Don’t get bummed; instead, turn to Spotify and their highly motivational Beast Mode playlist. With Nicki Minaj’s “MEGATRON,” Kid Ink’s “Champion,” and more, these jams will set you apart from the fitness wannabes.

For Mending a Broken Heart: Drifting Apart

Breakups are tough, no matter who you are, who you’re dating, or the reason you’ve decided to part ways. Whether you’ve been dating your significant other for three months or three years, there’s always an unpleasant feeling of rejection that comes along with a breakup. Dumper or dumpee, you’re going to need some music to get you through the tough time. Who knows? A good song, two, or eighteen might just help you start the process of detangling your very complicated emotions or give you some much-needed insight into your relationship. At uCribs, we’re all about dealing with your feelings, and with Spotify’s Drifting Apart playlist, you can do just that! Trust us when we say that this particular playlist is perfect for fresh heartbreak and is full of over-the-top, emotional ballads by musical artists, like Sabrina Claudio, Khalid, and 6LACK. Sure, this playlist won’t take the pain away, but it will help you have a good cry, which we all need sometimes.

For Kicking Back on a Rainy, Lazy Day: RapCavier

Every now and then, we all have one of those rainy, lazy days where we feel like doing the bare minimum, if that. Honestly, the weather doesn’t even have to be bad—sometimes, you just need to relax and turn your brain off for a second. Maybe, you’re over the Netflix and Chill craze, and mindless social media scrolling doesn’t seem to be doing it for you, either. Where should you turn, then? Uh, hello! A good playlist on repeat, while your phone is hooked up to your Bluetooth speaker, no doubt! That’s why you’ve got to check out the RapCavier playlist. Combining a collection of laidback tunes from artists, such as Drake and XXXTentacion, RapCavier puts you in a chill mood as you make the most of a day well spent in your off-campus apartment.
