Deep cleaning is a major factor when it comes to your lifestyle. While most of us do not get excited by the idea of deep cleaning, you must admit that there’s never an inconvenient time to refresh your apartment and completely eliminate household grime. Though, it is also understandable that you would want to get the job over with as soon as possible! Fortunately, uCribs has done the legwork for you, and we have some time-saving tips below to help you deep clean your apartment more efficiently.

Start with a clean broom.

Sweeping is a must. However, many people don’t think twice about sweeping their apartment floors with a dirty broom, which only leaves dust behind and inhibits the effectiveness of your sweeping. Instead of picking up your broom and delving straight into sweeping every surface of your floor plan, take a few minutes to pull dust bunnies from the bristles and wash the bristles with dish soap and water. Doing so will allow you to start fresh when sweeping, so you won’t have to go back and do it again later.

Use heated vinegar and water to tackle your microwave.

No one likes to spend several minutes chipping away at food stains inside their microwave. That’s why this next hack is such a lifesaver! Instead of dousing your microwave with cleaning agents, simply place a bowl of half water and half vinegar in the appliance and heat it on high for a few minutes. The steam from the mixture will loosen dried-on stains, so all you have to do is remove the excess with a paper towel or cloth. Yes, it really is as simple as that!

Give some TLC to your washing machine, too.

Most college students completely overlook their washer and dryer when it comes to cleaning their apartment homes, but washing machines can easily become a breeding ground for bacteria. Before you throw your next load in there, dedicate an hour to disinfecting it, first. Add baking soda and vinegar to the drum and let the mixture sit for up to 60 minutes before running a hot rinse cycle. Then, pat down the inside of the machine with paper towels or a microfiber cleaning cloth. Repeat the process, if needed!

While deep cleaning isn’t exactly fun, it’s a necessary aspect of adult life. Additionally, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America believes that the physical activity of cleaning coupled with the end result of a spotless home space can reduce stress, feelings of anxiety, and depressive symptoms. Plus, eliminating dust and other dirt helps to decrease allergens, bacteria, and mold throughout your apartment. So, do your due diligence and explore these #CleaningTips sooner rather than later.
