Have that big time gap in between classes? Hungry and want to get something to eat near your next lecture? Need to cram in last minute studying before the big exam? Not everyone has class every period of the day and sometimes class times may be spread out a lot leaving free time to spend wisely. At the University of Florida, there are a myriad of hang out spots to check out between classes, but there are some popular ones that are sure to put your time to good use.

Here are a couple places to spend that free time:

1. The HUB

the hub UF

This central location on campus is a high traffic bus stop, has restaurants such as Chick Fila, Starbucks, Einstein Bagels and a small food market. There are also individual and group study rooms and a plethora of chairs to relax with your friends while getting a bite to eat. If you are having problems with your laptop or computer, you can also bring it here to the Computer Help desk and they help you with any issues you may have.

2. Reitz Union

Reitz Union

The real question here is what can’t a UF student here? Home to the UF Bookstore, a spacious food court with favorites such as Pollo Tropical and Panda Express, Printing lab free for students, Career resource center, Hotel and much more. Currently, it is being renovated and will eventually become one of the largest college student unions in the country.

3. Plaza of Americas

Plaza of Americas

Part of a Student Club and interested in flyering? Don’t look further than this populated area between classes. Located right next to Library West, you won’t have a problem finding a spot here to showcase your student organization. Feeling hungry? Grab your friends and get Krishna Lunch, an all vegetarian/vegan lunch buffet served every day from 11-1:30 p.m. This hang out spot is also good for taking naps, reading a book, or even tossing the Frisbee around. You will also find some enormous and strange statues here!

4. Library West

Library West

Also known as “Club West” by students, this newly renovated library boasts 5 floors of beautiful study rooms and desks and is the major library on campus other than Marston Science Library nearby. Typically, the higher up you go, the quieter it gets. Don’t forget that midday latte from Starbucks before you leave.

5. Turlington Plaza

Turlington Plaza

Famous for controversial preachers, flash mob dancing and hordes of students walking around. Getting bombarded by fliers is a common commodity here as student clubs are highly concentrated in this area preaching their cause. If you have classes on campus, you will most likely pass by here multiple times a day.
