Hey Girl Winter Break Bucket List

The semester is over and you finally have some time to do you! Don’t let your time go to waste. Consider adding these activities to your winter break bucket list!

1. Fresh Air!!!

Ahhh take it in, fill those nostrils. You may have forgotten that life exists outside the library due to your recent bout with finals. Spend some quality time with Mother Nature as you soak in the vitamin D. Just because its winter doesn’t mean you need to keep to the confines of your home. Heck, here in Texas its 70 degrees! Coordinate a pick-up game of football, take your family dog for a walk, go on a jog through your old stomping grounds while at home, at the very least go shopping at an outdoor mall.

2. Organize your life.

There’s always that one area we shamefully avoid knowing that its lack of organization just might cause an explosion the next time we even peek at it. I can think of a few spots at my place: the linen closet, the pantry, my t-shirt drawer, my shoe rack, heck my whole closet for that matter… ok maybe more than a few things. Take advantage of this free time before it becomes a procrastination strategy for next semester. You might even be able to make some cash while doing it. Consider selling unneeded things to consignment shops, on craigslist, or even local Facebook pages. If nothing else your Zen will thank you.

3. Hit the gym.

If you’re like most Americans, “getting in shape” is sure to make another appearance on the 2015 New Year’s resolution list. Better to start this one early. Now that you have time, make it a personal goal to get to the gym at least four times a week. If you can turn this into a routine over the winter break then you are more likely to continue with it come spring semester. Starting January 1st is too late to expect the habit to stick by the time your life gets crazy busy with school again. If a gym membership is out of your budget then revert to #1 on the list; incorporate the outdoors into your workout. Another great resource is YouTube. While you’re on there browsing through funny videos, subscribe to a few workout channels. It’s actually becoming much more common, for women in particular, to workout via YouTube rather than paying for a gym membership.

4. Read a book.

Yes, for fun. Don’t let those boring textbooks leave you with a bad taste for reading. Pick something you like! Ask your friends for reading suggestions or just browse a Half Price books for inspiration. Not only is this cheap entertainment, but reading is known to help you de-stress, enhance memory skills, and just make you an all-around smarter person. So if you haven’t jumped on the book worm bandwagon now might be a perfect time.

5. Spend time with family and friends.

Of course many of us do this naturally, but I encourage you to really take advantage of your free time by surrounding yourself with the ones you love. College can take us on all kinds of new adventures and exciting life twists, but don’t forget stay grounded and remember your roots. We all come from different backgrounds but few of us have gotten to where we are today completely alone. Many times we go home for the holidays and are instantly annoyed by the lack of freedom compared to living on your own. Embrace it, Use that time to make lasting memories! What are some things on your winter break bucket list?
