College Fall Fashion

Cozy sweaters, cuddle weather, pumpkin spice lattes, and football games…really what is there to not love about fall? As the weather turns chilly, it can be hard to stay your trendiest especially with a tight wallet. So what should you add to the autumn shopping list that won’t break the bank? With these five fall style essentials, your closet will be turned from fall drab to fall fab.

Versatile Boots

A pair of versatile boots is an absolute essential for your fall closet. Boots can go with anything from leggings to a dress. Remember to stick to a neutral color like brown, black, or grey since you can match them with almost any other color. Of course everyone dreams of having Tory Burch or Frye riding boots…But my suggestion is to get a pair of pleather boots, especially if you are living somewhere that it will be muddy, snowy, or wet in the near future. Pleather endures all. Not to mention it won’t drain your bank account.

Big Sweater

A cozy sweater is calling your name. From lounging on the couch to a day out…with the right accessories your sweater can take on almost any scene. I live in my favorite sweater. When sweater shopping, I suggest you hit the mall and take a peek in the cheaper stores such as Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe instead of a department store. You can save hundreds, literally! Stick to a nice, lighter color so it will look perfect with your new boots!

Vest

Puffer vests are the absolute cutest. They keep you warm and stylish for the fall season. Matched up with a sweater, flannel, or even a sweatshirt, your puffer vest will be your go to piece with any outfit. This is the only fall essential that I suggest spending a little extra on. You definitely do not need to purchase a name brand, but with a little extra dough, you will get a much warmer vest and you will appreciate it when you are out and about later on in the season.

Infinity Scarf

Infinity scarves have become a huge trend in the past couple of years. Not only are they warm, but also they are completely acceptable to wear indoors which is a plus. They pair nicely with almost anything and can add dimension to even the simplest of outfits. From fabric to knit, you can find infinity scarves at almost any retail store this time of the year unless, of course, if a grandma-made scarf is an option.

Statement Necklace

Chunky chains and bold rhinestones are in this season but remember nothing over the top is necessary. For the days where it may be a little too warm for a scarf, a cute, yet slightly flashy necklace will pair nicely with a top suitable for fall. Check out your local consignment shops to scoop up a great deal but if second hand shopping is not your forte, an inexpensive jewelry store like Claire’s or Icing will be sure to have exactly what you are looking for.

These five must have items will transform your closet and have you ready to take on autumn in style. Happy shopping!
