Four Things To Do This Summer

summer plans

The summer can be boring, hot, and disappointing.

It makes sense if you think about it. There’s a lot of pressure and excitement to have a great summer, but if you’re working, either in the real world or by taking classes, you might not have the schedule that allows you to really get your groove on. And even if you have the time, where are you going to get the money. And even if by some twist of fate you have both the time and the money to have a killer summer, do your friends? Summer is about the people just as much as it’s about the weather, so keep that in mind before you rent a beach house by yourself.

So, what are you going to do? Well, glad you asked. Here are some cheap, productive, and awesome things to figure out this summer. Even if you’re short on time or money, you should be able to pursue most of these and have a better summer. You’re welcome in advance.

1. Buy Tickets To Baseball Games In The Second Inning

Walking towards Fenway Park, you’re going to notice a lot of people offering tickets on the street. But as the game actually starts, ticket prices plummet in a panic. If you’re comfortable taking your chances with missing the game, picking up tickets super late is a way to keep costs down.

And if you don’t get to the game? Find a bar with the game on with your friends. It’s the summer. Let life happen.

2. Master A Skill

Wouldn’t that be such a good use of your time?

Learn how to golf or grill. Find a summer-specific skill that’s enjoyable and devote your time to getting it down. It will be a fun use of your summer with actual results, plus a whole summer spent golfing or grilling is a lot of fun. It’ll even feel productive. Summer can be fun but aimless, but by adding a fun and specific goal to it you can have the best of both worlds.

3. Plan A Trip In The Middle

A simple, small trip will break up the monotony of the summer. And the good(?) news is that the annoyance and stress of figuring out all the details and friends with their specific concerns means you’ll have a whole lot more to look forward to when the trip actually works out.

Think about a short road-trip, because a long one is a logistical nightmare.

4. Enjoy

Savor it, because summer flies before you even get a chance to notice. Especially after this brutal winter, take a moment to appreciate the sun, the weather, and the opportunity not to wear three coats at once. Because if you enjoy your time, the activities will come that much easier.
